Dear Teachers:

Usborne Books & More (“UBAM”) is coming to SATEC for a book fair Monday, September 16th - Friday September 20th.  The book fair will take place from 9 AM to 4 PM Monday, Tuesday and Friday, and from 9 AM to 6:30 PM on Wednesday and Thursday. 

I am excited to show you how engaging, interactive, innovative, and entertaining these books are! Usborne books cover a wealth of information on all subjects, they have stunning illustrations and have beautifully written stories. These books are loved by teachers, parents, and most importantly they are loved by kids! We all know that having quality books in the home is essential for children and Usborne’s books were specifically designed to help children of all ages develop a love of books and reading. 

How YOU can help: Our book fair will be a cash and carry event where you or your students can purchase the books on display! We will be accepting cash, checks and all major credit cards at the book fair. 
1. BOOK FAIR letter and flyer:
Attached please find an email to send to your student's parents letting them know about our bookfair and an optional flyer to attach as well).
2. Mr. Flanagan will be handing out paper versions as well for each child to take home.

OPTION TWO: If you or your child can't make it to the event or prefer to shop online, you can also purchase any of our full range of over 2,000 titles online at:
https://1109704.myubam.com/1369923. If you are ordering online, be sure you see select SATEC’s Book Fair event! If you would like FREE shipping simply select the ship to school option! All orders placed online with the free shipping option will be delivered to the library at SATEC approximately on or before 10/4/19. 

******THE BEST PART: Fifty cents of every dollar you spend will be matched by UBAM to provide free books to SATEC’s school library! That means, if you purchase $50 in books for your child, UBAM’s matching program will give SATEC $25 in free books of their choosing for their library!****** 

The teachers will also be making wish lists, so be sure to check in with your teachers if you would like to purchase a book for their classroom.

Happy Spring! I hope you got out for a walk today. Lexia Reminders: Here is the link to access Lexia . Your username and password should be the same as your google login. Please email your teacher if you can’t log in. Please try to do 15-20 minutes a day. The goal should be 15-20 units per week.  Technology Survey : Do you need a Chromebook from school? There was a technology survey sent to parents on Monday, but if you didn’t fill it out, we don’t know that you need a Chromebook.  Book Check-In:   Today you should be working on your second reading and Job #2. Please remember to check your email daily and ask questions as they come up!

Google Meets for Video Conferencing: Guidelines for Families

We will be using Google Hangouts/Meets for online video meetings. Here is a document with Guidelines for Families . We have heard from many parents regarding permission to video conference with your child. If you have not already, p lease contact us if you would not like your child to participate for any reason. Ms. Westbrook and Ms. Berry have set up book group meetings to check in with students. Invitations for meetings have been sent to students' emails. A student can also request meetings outside of scheduled meetings. Thank you for your continued support.

Thank you to those of you who have reached out to us with questions! Email is a great way to get a hold of us, and we appreciate all of the students who have reached out to us directly with questions. A special thanks to the 6 students in the Tree Grows in Brooklyn reading group. We did a test run of a virtual meeting today using Zoom. It was a bit glitchy: the audio and video were inconsistent, which made it hard to have an extended conversation. We will be trying Google Meets next week.  Parents - Please have your student sign up for this blog directly, if they haven’t done so already.
