*** Mr. Peterson and I will be staying after school on Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 for students who need extra help, time to complete homework, or have been invited to stay. They will need to be picked up at 4:30. Please email one of us to let us know that your child will be staying.

         - Classical Roots Lesson 3 SpellingCity exercises due Friday
         - Step Book Independent Reading Project: "Rating & Review" due Friday, "Conflict R.A.C.E. due Monday"
         - Classical Roots Lesson 3 quizzes Monday.
         - Reading Log due Thursday (1/15) 
                           - 60 pages with 12 bullet points
                          - Choice of literary devices (3), word choice (20), character traits (4), or point of view questions (3)

SS: 
         - Ancient Egypt Section 3.1 and map due Friday.
         - ThinkCERCA quiz on Friday. Bring headphones or ear buds if you'd like to listen to the audio. 
       
Math: 
       - Central tendencies math test tomorrow.
       - Sink or Swim dilemma due Friday. 

Science:
       - 2 paragraphs (min. of 5 sentences each) on What if there was no moon? OR What if aliens landed on the earth that looked exactly like humans? Due Friday.

While it won’t be official until after approval from the superintendent, we are hopeful that our 2018 class trip will be to Montreal. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to raise money for our trip. On Friday, June 8th, students will arrive at SATEC, as usual, and depart for Montreal at approximately 8:30 a.m. In the past, we have visited the Biodome, the Planetarium, the Olympic Tower, the Underground City (underground mall), and Mont Royal. Our plans, including the date, are subject to change over the next month, as we iron out the details. We anticipate visiting two or three sites, and much depends on ticket prices and event times. Happy Spring! I hope you got out for a walk today. Lexia Reminders: Here is the link to access Lexia . Your username and password should be the same as your google login. Please email your teacher if you can’t log in. Please try to do 15-20 minutes a day. The goal should be 15-20 units per week.  Technology Survey : Do you need a Chromebook from school? There was a technology survey sent to parents on Monday, but if you didn’t fill it out, we don’t know that you need a Chromebook.  Book Check-In:   Today you should be working on your second reading and Job #2. Please remember to check your email daily and ask questions as they come up!

Distance Learning Update and Calendar for April 13-April 24

April 10th, 2020 Good Evening 8th Graders and Parents, Everybody’s health and well being is of the utmost concern and should be our number one priority.  We hope you are maintaining a schedule that provides time for exercise, fun, and time with friends, as well as maintaining the proper attention to your learning goals. A big high five to those of you who have managed to take this transition in stride and complete all (or many) of your assignments on time. We know that this has been a major adjustment period for many of you.  One of the parents compared this transition to school at home as putting the end of a fire hose in your mouth and opening it full blast!
